Setting Up for A Successful Performance - Important tips to avoid performance issues

BLUE MARBLE PERFORMANCE TIPS

Movement 1:
• Pitched and rhythmic backing tracks are present in the first 2.5 minutes. Bes ure to check the ausio sync when you load the files into Muséik. Then be sure to keep a careful sync in performance.

Movement 2:
• Movement 2 begins with a green Countdown Bar in the Score Window. During that time the video will fade in and the SFX will play. When the Countdown Bar gets to zero cue the conductor for the entrance of the ensemble.
• The end of Movement 2 concludes with a slow fade out of the SFX. You may not be able to hear the forest noises from your position but the audience will. Do not stop this movement until the file reaches the end or the audience will experience a jarring end to the SFX.

Movement 3:
• The movement opens with a grey Safety. Play the video as soon as movement 2 concludes. Once the title screen has faded in and just before the downbeat of the first bar of music press pause. Let the audience read the title screen as the ensemble prepares its music. When the conductor gives the downbeat hit play and the film will continue.
• About 2/3 of the way through there is another grey Safety. Just before this push the tempo and get out ahead of the ensemble. When the red Now Bar is at the right edge of the Safety hit Pause and wait for the ensemble to catch up. It is likely the conductor will include both a tempo change and a brief pause before the next downbeat. By getting ahead and then pausing the video you will be ready for whatever the conductor does in that measure. Whenever the next downbeat arrives, just hit the Spacebar and the critical sync point on that downbeat will be perfectly synchronized.

AUDIO FILES FOR MOVEMENT 2
If you are using the surround sound audio files for movement two they will need to played from a different computer. Muséik does not currently have the ability to bus four channels of audio. Provide the hall tech crew with the audio files we provide. Ask them to load the files into a free DAW program like Audacity. During Movemnent 2 the audio SFX should be played from this second computer. Audio on the computer running Muséik should be muted during this movement. The SFX are ambient and have no sync points. Don't stress about keeping the audio syncd, just let it play in the hall as ambient sound.
